South Queensferry loves a bridge – so much so it decided to build three (so far)! One of which, the Iconic Forth Bridge, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site – making it the perfect spot for a selfie. Crossing the water, we stop at the quaint village of Falkland - where the epic TV series, Outlander was shot. Then on to the quintessentially Scottish town of St. Andrews – famous for its ancient university; world-class golf and heart-fluttering views of castle ruins and sandy beaches.
Departing Edinburgh we head to South Queensferry to stand in the shadow of the striking Forth Bridge. This Scottish brute is one of our greatest man-made landmarks, towering 100 metres high, with cracking views over the Firth of Forth.
Onwards, we cross the water to Falkland, to be swept back to 1743 in a frenzy of romance and rebellion. This very village was used in the filming of Outlander as 1940's Inverness.
You will spend the afternoon in St. Andrews, where you’ll have plenty of free time to explore this fascinating town. Famous for its ancient golfing associations, St. Andrews is also home to one of the world’s oldest (English-speaking) Universities – which also happens to be where lovebirds Prince William & Catherine Middleton first hooked up! Wander the beautiful beaches and the ruins of the magnificent medieval cathedral.
Whilst in St Andrews you will have the option of a free walking tour of the town conducted by your awesome HAGGiS tour guide.
End your day face-deep in a locally-made, ice cream before driving back to Edinburgh early evening.
