Take a venture to the deep south for 12 days of mouthwatering eats, bright lights, and music filled late nights. This trip will see you shimmying around the sights and delights of New Orleans, Nashville, Memphis and Austin to name just a few, with scooting and booting no doubt clogging up your Instagram feed from the start to the end of your trip.
Howdy Dallas! This city does not do things by halves; it’s big, and it has a big attitude to match. Well known for oil tycoons, rich ranchers, a famous soap opera and of course their football team, the Dallas Cowboys there’s so much to see, but the show must go on … so get your boots on as we’re headed for Austin! It’s change of scene here, with a laid back vibe, delicious BBQ & of course, the live music capital of the world, baby! No need to rush in, we have two days to explore this vibrant city to really get local. We’ll let you get your bearings first though with a few of the city’s sights, before getting to know the squad over an included Texan BBQ feast…because we can.
With a full day to get Texan, go about your ways like a true local. What’s on offer you cry? More like what’s not! Get out on two wheels & explore, or grab a kayak & get out on Lady Bird Lake, a spot which looks as lovely as its name. No trip would be complete without shopping for cowboy boots on South Congress, stuffing yourself with even more lip smackin’ BBQ or taking things down a notch at Barton Springs pool. And it goes without saying that music is on the cards tonight, so we’ll head to one of our fave local spots, Sixth St, to take in the live vibes and toe tapping. Let’s do this!
With music no doubt ringing in your ears, and stuffed with more BBQ than you ever thought possible, we make tracks to San Antonio home of the Battle of the Alamo.Let us paint a picture of this town known for its epic blend of Spanish, Mexican & American culture. Full of history, it’s the perfect place for exploring. We’ll take on the city by foot, following our noses around Market Square, the largest Mexican Market outside of Mexico, then onto San Fernando Cathedral & the Alamo. This afternoon stroll along the River Walk with shops & restaurants couldn’t be a better place to grab a bite & a brew & chill.
Your ‘Howdy’s’ will be down pat by now, so of course if there’s the option to channel your inner Cowboy for a trail ride you’ll be sure to get in on the action, before heading to the largest city in Texas, Houston.Yes, Houston we are comin’ in hot! We'll take to the city to see what else is on offer. Don’t be fooled, Houston may be the biggest city in Texas but you still experience the quintessential Texas honky-tonk complete with cowboy hats & oversize belt buckles. Yee ha!
Another day, another destination awaits. Leave the boots (and Texas) behind as we scoot on over to New Orleans. This city will romance you with its soul and have you swooning over its spiritual heart - the French Quarter. The main drag culminates at Jackson Square with the iconic wrought iron balconies lining the streets. You’ll be hard pressed to pick which you find more enchanting, the European/Caribbean fusion food or the non-stop jazz festival vibe. No matter which, tonight we turn up the volume and hit Bourbon Street to sample the live music and bar culture that New Orleans has to offer, it’s the birthplace of jazz after all.
With a full day to yourself, it's time to get fully immersed in everything New Orleans. Start out at Cafe Du Monde for a tasty beignet, and pick up some treasures at the French Market if you're feeling like dropping some dollar. This diverse city has so much going on; visit the Garden District, spend a few hours in the soul kitchens and jazz clubs of the French Quarter or even hang out in Jackson Square with the musicians, artists and fortune tellers. There's a cooking school on offer for those looking to fine-tune (or learn) their Gumbo, jambalaya and creolerecipes, or for those keen to get on the mighty bayou, why not jump on an airboat cruise, and even have a go at holding a baby gator. Back in the city, the Mardi Gras Museum could be calling, most likely tempting you to come back to the city and experience the event first hand.
You've let the good times roll (or “Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler”, as the motto goes). It's time to gather your party beads and empty your hurricane cups, because we're veering north today. If Jackson was cool enough for Johnny Cash to sing about, then it's sure as hell cool enough for us. We'll drop in to see if we can pick up on some of that Delta blues inspiration before continuing on to Memphis. It's no wonder Memphis, Tennessee, pulls so many pilgrims - not only is it the home of blues, it's also the home of barbecued meat. Now that's a winning combo. Lose yourself to dance on a group night out on Beale Street, where Blues music was first birthed among its juke joints and honky tonks.
Today we pay homage to Elvis, the late and great King of Rock’n’Roll. We'll visit and tour his former home, Graceland, where you will get up close and personal with his fabulously flamboyant jumpsuits and many gold records. The afternoon is then yours to do with Memphis what you will - we recommend a visit to Sun Studios where many of the greats have recorded albums over the years.
We’re still keeping it real in Tennessee, and without missing a beat we’ll make like a band and get the show back on the road. Pull those boots out one more time – we’re onto Nashville, “Music City U.S.A.”Home to some of the musical greats including Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and once home to Taylor Swift, it’s safe to say this place is the ultimate home of musical legends. Dive on in and get to know the city up-close & personal with a sightseeing tour of Nashville’s landmarks, including the Parthenon, Ryman Auditorium & the recording studios of Music Row. Tonight, join us for a southern meal & Music City Roots!
With a full day here, you better make the most of every minute to explore. With music in the streets you’ll be feeling the energy left, right and centre. Since the day is free, why not join us for an insiders tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame and opt in to visit Music Row with a guided tour of famous RCA Studio B. No trip would be complete without getting into the live scene, so grab your dancing shoes for a night out on the town to experience what Nashville has to offer with the crew.
No doubt last night took it out of you, so grab a bit of shut eye after we wave farewell to Tennessee and Nashville. Today we take on a new state and head south to the capital of Georgia, Atlanta. We make a stop to stretch the legs at none other than the Jack Daniels Distillery. You’ll learn the art of whiskey making on a guided tour, and for those that are 21 and above, get a tasting of this drop in its true home…all in the name of culture, of course. No doubt feeling merry and ready to take on our next spot, we’ll jump back on the coach and head south.View the sights on your orientation tour of Atlanta, including Peachtree Plaza, CNN Center, and Peachtree Street with its charming neighbourhoods before arriving at our hotel. Tonight, experience Atlanta’s vibrant nightlife for our last night of the trip, so it’s time to make it count and experience one of the city’s hotspots for our last night on the trip, toasting new friends and good times that have flowed over these 12 incredible days.
This morning we’ll check out Atlanta on a morning orientation tour. The afternoon is yours to explore this cosmopolitan city.
The end is near, but with plans for a reunion tour no doubt at top of mind, we say goodbye to Atlanta and end the trip today as we travel through the state of Georgia en route to Florida, America’s most visited city, Orlando.Grab those tissues, it's time for the adventure packed with food, music and dancing to come to end. Swap social deets, no doubt with fond memories of the last few days, and make plans to reunite for the next trip.
