Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive London
Check in to your hotel after 2:00pm and head out into the humming capital of Britain for a sneak peek at what’s to come. At 4:00pm meet up with your Trip Manager and get to know your fellow travellers.
Day 2: London to Paris
Welcome to the first day of the best time of your life - we're calling it early! After a few pleasantries in London we'll get the show on the road with Paris in our sights.A few hours in and your jaws are on the floor already. These chalk cliffs that edge the English coastline are known as the White Cliffs of Dover, the first of many natural beauties we'll see on your trip.After we ferry across the English Channel for France we'll arrive in Calais, where we will take in the history of World War I while driving past ancient battlefields in the Valley of the Somme.Kicking off night one, we arrive in none other than the lust-worthy Paris! It's straight down to business with tickets to the observation deck of the Montparnasse Tower.
Day 3: Paris
Today you can drool over haute couture, admire the Notre Dame Cathedral whilst juggling coffee and crêpes, & get artsy at the many museums of the Louvre. Just don't wear yourself out, you will probably want to get involved with dinner and the Moulin Rouge cabaret show.
Day 4: Paris to Lucerne
Already enjoying the vibes of Europe we take things up a notch this morning - quite literally - and head to the Swiss Alps. The journey there will be a poem of scenic vineyards and French countryside.Just when you think France is the most scenic place on Earth, we make a border crossing and start traipsing through the lands of Switzerland; comparing the two would be completely inequitable. Rest well tonight knowing the wonderland of Lucerne is ours all day tomorrow.
Day 5: Lucerne
There's no reason why today can't be wasted strolling these beautiful streets or sitting in a coffee shop pondering mountain life. And consuming more chocolate - that's perfectly acceptable too. However! Those wanting to spice up their day can take a journey to the top of a Swiss mountain and later on enjoy a Swiss fondue lunch. Spoilt for choice much?
Day 6: Lucerne to French Riviera
Today we make a swap from Swiss mountains to suave seasides. We'll depart Lucerne then slice through Italian countryside en route to the French Riviera. #NOREGRETS - have you noticed that's our motto?After a night on the blackjack table it's back to the coast and to bed, the next part of the adventure starts tomorrow.
Day 7: French Riviera
You're not a real celebrity until you've frolicked on the French Riviera. And who are we to keep you off the A-List? Sapphire waters & endless glamour will be on show as we explore this glitzy coastal town.
Day 8: French Riviera to Florence via Pisa
After a few days in France you'll be full to the brim with all things French and ready for new ground, but first we'll hit up the Fragonard Perfumery where you can stock up on perfume, obviously. Especially exciting given the greatly discounted prices and authenticity of buying in France. You'll also learn a thing or two about how these sweet scents are made.No trip around Europe is complete without seeing the world's most famous #AwkwardLean, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Once you've got that perfect snap of you holding the thing up like you're Arnold Schwarzenegger, we'll be on the fast-track to Florence.The dome of Duomo Cathedral sits above the city making certain we know we have arrived in Florence. Tonight you can choose to begin your Tuscan love affair at an included dinner and perhaps a stroll down the Arno river.
Day 9: Florence
Jump start the day uncovering this open-air museum. Our Local Guide gives you the inside track as the group learns about Florence’s cultural beginnings and explores streets crammed with artworks from masters like Michelangelo. Then learn from the masters how Florentine leather is made and understand this region’s traditional art. With bargains and bustle, the city’s markets are a great place to hang out. Grab a gelato and enjoy this gorgeous city. Tonight, there’s a choice of a group dinner – an authentic Tuscan feast. Try regional dishes in a fantastic Tuscan country setting. Then keep it moving with a night out and get your groove on at Florence’s biggest nightclub.
Day 10: Florence to Rome
Farewell Florence - today we have the epicenter of Italy on our horizons. Pizza and piazzas … we can't wait. Travel through Tuscany’s rustic hills, past the recognisable cypress tree landscapes of this olive oil producing region, to vibrant Rome. Stylish Rome oozes energy and overflows with relics from another age. Our special access coach tour gets you right into the thriving atmosphere of this living timeline as your Trip Manager shows you the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. Continue on foot to check out the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Honour tradition at the Trevi Fountain and throw a coin in the fountain’s waters (it’s meant to improve your chances of returning to Rome!) or maybe hang out with your new friends at the Spanish Steps, sit back with a few slices of pizza and people watch.The afternoon will really take it up a notch as we uncover Italian icons in the country's capital of Rome as you get a glimpse of it's glory by night. Gelato, pizza and ancient monuments - perfecto! And we'll start it out right with a cooking class to get you into the groove.
Day 11: Rome
Rome wasn't built in a day - so get up and get going early to make the most of this ancient city.When in Rome...take an optional guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Religious or not, the Vatican's Italian Renaissance church will send shivers down your spine. This is also the day to learn a thing or two about the Colosseum & do a bit of your own exploring.Then hit the streets for your own discoveries. Snap pink azaleas by the Colosseum, throw coins in fountains and sip espresso in a pretty street watching Italian life float by.
Day 12: Rome to Venice
We may be hitting the road again, but we're not done with Italy just yet. We have one more city to lust over...Kudos to the cats of decades gone by who constructed this lagoon fairytale. The 118 islands of Venice are yours to explore. Boats, bridges, gondolas; your heart is going to pound. Relax tonight knowing we have all day tomorrow to cruise canals & explore pretty streets. Just another day in the traveller's life.
Day 13: Venice
Wake-up sleeping beauties! Venice is yours for the entirety of this glorious Italian day. We'll be jumping aboard our own private boat and hitting the canals en route to the historical heart of the city. A guided walking tour and a gondola ride are up for grabs, or you can always choose to get lost on your own and see where the maze takes you.
Day 14: Venice to Munich via Austrian Tyrol
Confident we have ticked off all the Italian essentials, we can now leg it to Germany. After all the sophistication and glamour of France and Italy, a few beers and the chance to wear suspenders will be precisely what we feel like. Wind through the Austrian Alps to lively Munich.Bavarian culture, a gothic clock and charm aplenty. Munich doesn't just turn it on during Oktoberfest! Explore peaceful gardens and legendary beer halls or join in on the optional walking tour and explore the side streets you wouldn't usually see.
Day 15: Munich to Vienna
Sweet, sweet Bavarian culture - you will stay in our hearts a lifetime. And we are now about 120% convinced we need to sign up to Contiki's Oktoberfest festivities. So it's not goodbye, it's see you at the beer fest!!Body need a little tender loving care after Munich's mayhem? Rest up in your comfortable hotel tonight so that you're ready to explore the beautiful city of Vienna tomorrow.
Day 16: Vienna
A whole day lies ahead to uncover the ethereal Austrian capital. Our Trip Manager will uncover the historical heritage of Schönbrunn Palace, the State Opera House and the gothic St. Stephen’s Cathedral. You will also be swimming in plenty of free time to saunter around art galleries and laze away hours in local coffee houses. An Old Vienna Schnaps Museum & a Mozart and Strauss concert and dinner will prove the perfect introduction for those feeling cultured and curious.
Day 17: Vienna to Prague
Today we travel out of Austria to its northern neighbour, Czech Republic. But don't despair, we have another bout in the fine country of Germany in just a few days to keep practising your German!Now positively inspired by our newest crush, the Czech Republic, we head north to its capital city of Prague. Fast becoming a European hotspot, Prague will woo you with its cathedrals & pretty bridges & architectural beauty.
Day 18: Prague
With a full day to explore, expect an entire photo album of Gothic architecture, market antics & you cheers-ing Czech beer; not to mention life!
Day 19: Prague to Rhine Valley
Pack your bags and say your sincere thanks to the Czech Republic for being such a lovely host. It's time to make our way back into Germany where one of the most stunning wine regions on the planet awaits us.Our chosen spot in this gob-smackingly gorgeous valley is St. Goar, complete with castles that belong in the clouds and a free-hanging cuckoo clock. The magic of the region will unfold itself, then we can polish off the mood with the offer of wine tasting & a look at the art of beer steins.
Day 20: Rhine Valley to Amsterdam
Time to snap out of that whimsical valley mode you've found yourself in - we have a buzzing city to liven up for. And it's none other than the world's wild child of Amsterdam.Weaving through Dutch countryside we find ourselves in the famously eclectic capital of The Netherlands. Waste no time sussing out its quirks, starting with the canals and gable houses before heading on to the Red Light District if you're feeling adventurous.
Day 21: Amsterdam including Edam
You know the cheese, and now you're going to know the place that pioneered it. We'll cycle into the countryside to see windmills & gorgeous tulip fields on our way to an actual cheese farm & clog maker's house. It's our last full day on the trip & our last night to party up a storm with the squad. Use the day to explore quirky museums & sample the endless array of cuisines this city has on offer.
Day 22: Depart Amsterdam
Get your tissues ready, it's time to say goodbye to your new Contiki family. We'll escort you to Schiphol Airport by about 10am.For those not leaving us until London, we'll travel south through Belgium - cross another country off your list.This afternoon we cross from France to England and then back to London-town, where you'll be left to start dreaming up your next big adventure.
