Itinerary

01

Day 1-3

Delhi / Agra / Jaipur
Arrive into dazzling New Delhi and enjoy a full day of sightseeing on Day 2, where you’ll drive past the India Gate, Parliament house, Gandhi Museum, Birla Temple and the President’s Palace. Top it off with a visit to Raj Ghat - the memorial built in honour of Mahatma Gandhi. Travel to Agra by express train after a local lunch. Explore the pièce de résistance, the Taj Mahal, (did you know it took 20,000 workers to construct?) on Day 3 before heading to rust-red Agra Fort. You’ll then drive to the Pink City of Jaipur, famous for its colourful, chaotic streets. (2B, D)

02

Day 4-8

Jaipur
Day 4 marks the first day of your work, where you’ll spend four days volunteering in Jaipur. Activities depend upon the project needs of the time and your skills and experience. After morning yoga (when in India) and five hours of volunteering on Day 4, spend the afternoon getting out your best dance moves, learning a Bollywood dance from a local teacher. Continue on with your yoga and volunteering work on Day 5 and head to the red-pink Wind Palace in the afternoon. Hop on a rickshaw through Jaipur’s bazaars and have a go at your bargaining skills. Dress up like a local in the evening for a traditional dressing and photo session. After a morning of yoga and volunteering, enjoy a henna painting class in the afternoon on Day 6 before spending the evening dining with a local Indian family. After an early morning visit to the Amber Fort on Day 7, continue on with your volunteering activities. Spend the rest of the day at your own leisure. Wave your goodbyes as Day 8 marks the last day of volunteering. Spend the rest of the day visiting a rural family farm that concludes with a home-cooked meal there. (5B, 5L, 2D)

03

Day 9-10

Pushkar / New Dehli
Drive on to Pushkar after breakfast on Day 9 and wander its charming market before embarking on a camel safari where you’ll spend the starry night camping after a yummy barbecue. Enjoy a guided tour of Pushkar on Day 10, home to the Holy Lake and a whopping surrounding 500 temples. Visit the colourful Brahma temple before a transfer to New Dehli. (2B, 2D)

04

Day 11-15

Goa
And it’s off to Goa by plane on Day 11 where you can spend the evening lazing on a beach and eating fresh seafood dinner (at extra cost). Spend Day 12 lounging on Goa’s golden beaches of Palolem and Agonda. Day 13 is set aside for exploring old Goa’s old churches and famous monuments, as well as for a visit a spice plantation to see how various spices used in Indian cooking are cultivated. Spend the evening chilling out on the beach. Day 14 includes visits to the popular Baga beach in northern Goa, the Donna Paula beach, and a visit to a family of Goan fishermen. And it’s home time on Day 15 with an included breakfast (if departure time allows). Do stay on if you can’t leave quite yet! (5B)
